TRACK DOWN MQA AT THE BRISTOL HI-FI SHOW
By now you should be aware of Master Quality Authenticated, or MQA, audio streaming. Well, if you are yet to experience it, you will not be short of opportunities at The Bristol Hi-Fi Show this year.
MQA certainly seems to be gaining traction as the number of components able to 'unfold' the special audio packages continues to grow.
Furthermore, recently the hi-res streaming service Tidal announced that Android /news/tidal-masters-on-mobile devices now have the capability of streaming 'Master’ quality tracks and albums, which up until now was only possible on desktop machines. Great news for those who enjoy the service while blocking out the commute.
If you are curious about MQA, here is a quick rundown of some of the places where you will be able to experience MQA at this year’s Bristol Show.
Astell&Kern - Stand Bristol 4b
Audiolab - The Old Vic Suite (Lower Ground Floor)
StereoNET has been told that you can expect an MQA-enabled product on static display. Such teases!
AudioQuest - Room 202
The AudioQuest team will have a MacBook loaded MQA files downloaded with one of their lovely DragonFly USB DAC/Headphone Preamp/Amplifiers ready for a demo on request.
Hegel - Room 230
The Norweigan brand will have its H590 on display, and the team will be happy to take requests for MQA demos.
Mark Levinson - Empire 2
Mark Levinson is planning to demo the MQA-ready No. 519 player. You can also check out the MQA-enabled new 5000 Series.
Novafidelity - Foyer 1b
Here you will find an MQA-CD being used to demo a range of MQA-enabled products, including the X45Pro.
Pro-Ject Audio - Rooms 416, 418, 420, Bristol Suite 10 a&b
There will be rooms with the brand's Pre Box S2 Digital on display. Pro-Ject will also be using Roon to stream Tidal Master/MQA tracks.
Sony - Room 314 & Stand Bristol 13b
Sony will show the £8,000 MQA-enabled DMP-Z1 digital music player at the show. We heard it at IFA last year, and you need to too.
Technics - Cabot suite
The Technics team will be demoing MQA CDs on the SL-G700.
