Sony has announced its new UBP-X1100ES high-end 4K UHD Blu-ray player, which comes with Dolby Vision support.

Sony promises that its new player produces deeper darks and more vibrancy than ever before, naturally, with High Dynamic Range (HDR), Dolby Vision, 4K upscaling up to 60p video, and support for the new BT2020 colour space.

It's not just visuals it boasts of handling excellently, audio gets plenty of attention too. According to Sony, the UBP-X1100ES will upscale the frequency and dynamic range of compressed music like MP3s and CDs, so you hear every breath, drumbeat and note with High-Resolution audio. Oh, SACD is also catered for here.

Dual-band MIMO wi-fi built-in gives access to all things smart as well as 4K streaming. There is also wired Ethernet, HDMI and Bluetooth TX with LDAC skills on top of universal disc playback including 3D Blu-ray playing.

Price and availability

The player is set to be priced at $599.99. However, we are waiting for confirmation of the player going on sale in the UK where it might cost around £749. Folks over in the US of A have access to purchasing through Best Buy, Amazon and authorised dealers.
