Primare Prisma Gets Software Rebuild

Primare has updated its Prisma network playing software - or, rather, has redeisgned both apps and firmware from the ground up.
Primare's Prisma is being readied for its upcoming Roon Ready update, starting with the NP5 Prisma. So, the Swedish hi-fi firm has taken the opportunity to totally revamp the streaming platform and introduce new mobile apps covering both iOS and Android.
Not only does this update eliminate the old patches and unnecessary coding to increase control, speed and stability of the existing platform, but this new build also brings with it additional features and functions as well as improving overall performance, says Primare.
Firstly, Prisma the automatic OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware update adds AirPlay 2 and a “Heartbeat” function that is said to improve discovery as well as active network connection and communication between the Prisma device and app.
The new software platform also hands you multiple ways of setting up Prisma's Wi-Fi connection - via the Android app, using AirPlay on iOS, or through Google Home using your Chromecast account.
Furthermore, the new release fixes known bugs such as eliminating the pop noises while playing high-resolution files over Airplay and Chromecast. There are also DLNA/UPNP protocol enhancements for improved playback performance across all platforms (including solving playback issues with Audirvana and Primephonic).
Primare NP5 Prisma
The NP5 network player receives RS232 Link functionality improvements along with digital output setting options including native playback, with selectable maximum sampling rate pass-through options of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192kHz. Also a Fixed setting with selectable up-sampling/down-sampling to 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192kHz.
Prisma Mobile App
The software behind the Prisma apps is also totally new (Apple (1.3.4(62)) and Android (1.3.8.8)) and features an improved user experience. You will also find that the single app now works on any mobile device, with portrait orientation for phones, and landscape orientation for tablet versions.
