Polk Audio has announced the launch of its updated loudspeaker range, the Signature E Series. The new group is a collection of floorstanding, centre and bookshelf speakers

The newcomers build upon the original Signature Series by drawing from the premium audio technologies used in the company's top-of-the-line home entertainment speakers. According to Polk, the upgrades include better-performing linear drive units, combined with new crossover topology and components.

The new collection consists of the S60e (£999), S55e (£799) and S50e (£599) floorstanding tower speakers, the S35e (£299) and S30e (£269) centre speakers and the S20e (£299), S15e (£249) and S10e (£199) bookshelf speakers.

The new range incorporates Black Washed Walnut or Winter White finishes. Additionally, the critically damped Meddite MDF cabinets feature curves and gilded accents.

Thanks to Polk’s patented Dynamic Balance Technology Driver Design, Polk says its engineers were able to integrate the most suitable, carefully selected materials and most efficient geometry, analysing each speaker’s entire electro-acoustic and mechanical system.

Furthermore, thanks to the Polk Power Port, the speakers can offer up 3dB more bass response output than a traditional port. The PPP technology extends the overall bass port, providing a large surface area that eliminates turbulence and distortion. Polk says that this equates to more significant, more musical, deep bass impact.

The flagship Polk Signature S60e tower features a 25mm Terylene tweeter that is capable of delivering 40 kHz; this sees them get the Hi-Res certificate of approval. The tweeter is backed up by three 165mm low distortion mica-reinforced polypropylene cones with four-layer voice coils. Similarly, the S55e features two 165mm mid-range drivers and the S50e featuring two 133mm drivers. Other features include a four-driver (S60e and S55e) and three-driver (S50e) cascading tapered crossover array, anti-diffraction grills, and a brace of gold-plated five-way binding posts.

The Polk Signature E Series S20e and S15e bookshelf speakers also feature a 25mm Terylene tweeter. Each speaker also hosts a single low-distortion mica-reinforced polypropylene cone, ranging from 165mm (S20e) to 133mm (S15e). The bookshelf speakers are loaded with a Power Port and have wall-mounting options.

The Polk Signature E Series is available now.
