Philips Fidelio X3 Headphones Launched

Philips Sound has launched its top-flight Fidelio X3 headphones.

Philips' new flagship cans, the Fidelio X3, are said to sport a luxurious style that matches its performance.

The Fidelio X3 open-backed headphones comprise of a lightweight yet strong, dark satin steel frame that's covered in “responsibly sourced” black Muirhead leather. You also get a thick felt headband and velour memory foam ear-pads. That covers the luxury bit, anyhow.

More importantly, on the sonic side of things, the Fidelio X3 eschews a traditional grill in favour of an acoustically transparent Kvadrat fabric. As well as being pretty swish, it also reduces any air pressure build-up and standing-wave reflections from behind the drivers, according to Philips.

Furthermore, the new headphones boast an HRA accredited, exceptionally wide, 5hz to 40Khz bandwidth. You can go the whole hog and run the Fidelio X3 in balanced mode to give the left and right channels separate grounds and so reduce crosstalk while improving stereo separation. A balanced, twisted-pair cable is also included and features 2.5mm TRRS connector.

Pricing is expected to be around the €349 mark when they land in the Summertime.
