MCINTOSH MA352 HYBRID INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER
McIntosh MA352 hybrid integrated amplifier announced in time for RMAF 2019 launch.
McIntosh's MA252 won many fans, and now the Binghamton, New York amp maestros introduce its newest hybrid integrated amp: the MA352.
McIntosh MA352 Hybrid
As you may have already guessed, the new McIntosh MA352 Integrated Amplifier is a hybrid design, combining the best of vacuum tube and solid-state audio design principles.
An all-analogue design, the MA352 has a vacuum tube preamplifier section that is powered by a pair of 12AX7A and a pair of 12AT7 vacuum tubes.
However, the amp's output stage is a direct coupled solid-state amplifier that outputs 200 Watts per channel into 8 Ohm speakers or 320 Watts per channel into 4 Ohm speakers. That is double the preceding MA252 and will no doubt power virtually any set of loudspeakers.
Naturally, up front, you'll find dual scale McIntosh blue Watt meters giving you power output for both speaker impedances.
Ins and Outs
The MA352 has two balanced and three unbalanced inputs plus 1 Moving Magnet phono input with adjustable loading.
Gold-plated speaker binding posts ensure a quality signal is sent to the speakers.
A stereo preamplifier output is available for connecting a higher-powered amplifier. Alternatively, it can also be used to connect 1 or 2 powered subwoofers for added low-frequency performance.
Of course, the MA352 is packed with McIntosh tech such as Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, a High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD), and more.
Additionally, you get a 5-band analogue tone control (each band adjustable by ± 12dB), Home Theater Pass Through, Power Control, and Data Ports.
The unit sits on a stainless-steel chassis polished to a mirror finish. There are cool, vintage McIntosh-styled die-cast aluminium name badges on each side too.
The McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks, control knobs, illuminated logo, and a black glass front panel are all present and correct, as expected.
Meet the McIntosh MA352
The MA352 will be on show at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (in-room Homestead 4) and 2019 CEDIA Expo (in booth SR-17).
