MCINTOSH LIGHTBOX: PRETTY, BUT POINTLESS

At the pointy end of Hi-Fi, some brands attract a fanatical following. McIntosh is such a brand, and now the McFans have been armed with the tools to fly their flag high.

As I was flicking through Twitter, the McIntosh LB100 Lightbox caught my eye. To start with I was unsure as to whether or not April Fools Day had come around early.

But, if you’re already content with your McIntosh system and you have US $1500 burning a hole in your pocket, why not?

The LB100, of course, features the famous green backlit logo against the deepest of blacks and aluminium end caps. Furthermore, it displays the “Handcrafted in the USA since 1949” statement as a badge of honour.

But get this. It's also compatible with McIntosh’s Power Control so the Lightbox will turn on and off with the rest of your Hi-Fi kit. Pretty neat!

It is around the same size as the brand’s CD player, so it will slot seamlessly into your Mc stack.
