Magnat Audio RV 4 hybrid tube integrated amplifier has just caught our eye.

The German audio specialist Magnat mentioned this impressive-looking RV 4 integrated amplifier on its Facebook page recently, so we needed to know more.

Sporting a bank of E88CC tubes the contemporarily-styled RV 4 Hybrid Tube Integrated Amplifier will demand your attention too.
The RV 4 is designed to offer the much sought after tonal warmth of valves with the cleaner and analytical sound of transistors. It certainly appears to make sense to put these qualities together to achieve a best-of-both-worlds synergy of sound signatures.

Building on the qualities of the RV 3, Magnat naturally states that the new kid on the block possesses superior sound quality. It is certainly not lacking in connectivity options, especially given its valve credentials.

For lovers of analogue, you get a built-in phono stage designed to work with both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges. Also, as well as the two pairs of RCA for the phono stage, there are a further four sets to take your analogue signals.

You even get a wireless input thanks to a Bluetooth radio that plays nice with aptX technology. The integrated Bluetooth 4.0 module is a lovely addition.

Digital input via Bluetooth, Optical and Coax is pushed through a high-quality, built-in Burr-Brown DAC. The DAC offers sampling frequencies of 44.1/48/88.2/96/176.4/192kHz at a supported 16/24 bit depth.

Additionally, there is a power amplifier input (Main In) for easy integration into a home cinema system, preamplifier output for connecting subwoofers or additional power amplifiers, an additional fixed level output (Rec Out), with the 6.3 mm headphone output rounding things off. The speaker outputs boast chunky, insulated screw terminals.

As mentioned, the RV 4 uses a pair of E88CC tubes in the preamp stage with the solid-state output generating 140 watts per channel into 4-ohm speaker loads.

Magnat's RV4 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier measures 434 x 157 x 360 mm and weighs in at 18.5kg. Furthermore, we reckon that it really looks the part.

Price and availability

Available now, the Magnat RV 4 sells for €2,900.
