Lyngdorf Audio CS-1 In-Cabinet Speaker Launched

Lyngdorf Audio has launched a speaker that has been designed to sit inside a cabinet and still perform remarkably.
The Lyngdorf CS-1 is a compact full-range loudspeaker designed explicitly for discreet placement inside cabinets such as sideboards and TV furniture. Especially if the cabinet doors have fabric panels.
Therefore, the CS-1 is designed to be a horizontal rather than vertical loudspeaker. Additionally, the loudspeaker sports a front-loaded bass reflex port and its tweeter is both elevated and angled. This particular tweeter placement is said to reduce sound diffractions from furniture edges inside a cabinet, as well as improving sound radiation toward the listening area.
The Lyngdorf CS-1 borrows the same midrange/bass driver and tweeter as the successful FR-1 two-way loudspeaker, so a 1-inch soft-dome textile tweeter and a 6.5-inch aluminium coned mid/bass unit. Naturally, the overall construction and sound tuning have been tailored for in-cabinet placement for the CS-1.
We are told that the CS-1 can get down to 42 Hz thanks to its front-ported design, meaning it doesn't necessarily require the support of a subwoofer.
The CS-1 is stealthily constructed from MDF and finished in a durable and easy to clean matte-black lacquer. Self-adhesive rubber pads are supplied with the speaker to prevent any scratches on the furniture surface and to absorb resonance between furniture and speaker. The CS-1 comes without a front grille to allow for the clearest sound performance, for example, behind the fabric doors of TV furniture.
Anker Haldan, CCO, Steinway Lyngdorf told StereoNET:
We have made the CS-1 to meet the growing demand for stylish cabinet furniture enclosing speakers and audio equipment. The CS-1 enables customers, who prefer to hide speakers for either space or optical reasons, to enjoy music and video sound at the highest quality level, which Lyngdorf Audio is broadly recognised for.
The Lyngdorf CS-1 in-cabinet speaker is priced at £699.
