LUXMAN PD-151 BELT-DRIVE TURNTABLE ANNOUNCED

Luxman has just announced more details on its PD-151 belt-drive turntable.

The new Luxman PD-151 promises the classic, premium-quality Luxman belt-drive turntable design at a lower price point.

Luxman PD-151

In 2011, Luxman introduced its first new turntable in 28 years, the PD-171. Three years later, the upgraded PD-171A and armless PD-171AL were released. Today, the renowned Japanese brand announces the PD-151, allowing for more people to join in the vinyl revival.

Presenting a typically, clean and elegant exterior design, the Luxman PD-151 has ease-of-use and seamless functionality as its keystones.

Incorporating a newly developed, high-precision DC motor, the PD-151 achieves wow and flutter of less than 0.04% (WRMS), maintaining unerringly accurate operation across three user-selectable speeds (33 1/3, 45, 78rpm).

The design features an under-slung, suspended structure, with components mounted on the underneath of the top panel chassis; a method that eliminates the influence of vibrations from the supporting surface.

The motor and power transformer, which can generate vibration, are isolated with rubber damping mounts.

Additionally, the 10mm thick, machined aluminium top panel provides a rigid base for the moving parts, and the heavyweight 4.0kg platter promises excellent stability and accurate rotation.

Further isolation comes by way of the large-calibre isolation feet that boast the latest high-performance damping rubber.

To enable optimum performance, the PD-151 features a high-precision stainless steel centre spindle, a PEEK (polyether ether ketone) thrust bearing and a brass radial bearing. Also, the universally compatible, static-balanced tonearm, made by JELCO, allows for easy cartridge substitutions and satisfying operation. The Magnesium alloy headshell with LUXMAN logo is also a lovely touch.

The AC power socket on the rear panel allows you to easily upgrade the power cable should you want.

The Luxman PD-151 also comes with a 4mm thick acrylic dust cover included.

Price and availability

The Luxman PD-151 turntable is available in the UK from August at an RRP of £4,500 (inc. tonearm and dust cover).
