GENESIS ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES DEBUTS VPI-PARTNERED TURNTABLE

The result of a two-year partnership between VPI and Genesis Advanced Technologies has debuted at the Thailand International High-End AV Show 2019.

VPI and Genesis Advanced Technologies have seen their products paired in systems around the world. So, it made sense that their love of engineering,  music, and great American Hi-Fi brought them to produce something together.

Genesis Advanced Technologies CEO Gary Koh visited the father and son team of Harry and Mat at the VPI factory in New Jersey back in October 2017. Koh then left with a limited edition Harry Weisfeld Vanquish Turntable (AKA Avenger Direct) to use in demos.

Gary Koh reflects:

Serendipity, that's what it boils down to. Sometimes, things happen for a reason. I was already re-designing the cabinet of the Genesis Maestro to improve the quality of the bass - depth, nuance, texture, timbre - and already had another pair of prototype cabinets on the way. Then, my friend Wuti Larnroongroj introduced me to Harry Weisfeld and when we visited his home, and I listened to the VPI Vanquish, I knew that I had to have it for the demo to show off the bass ability of the new Maestro.

Since then, it appears that Genesis and VPI have been working together on a secret project dubbed simply as The Record Player and we at StereoNET have managed to get some sneaky pictures from the show in Thailand.

Naturally, given the history, the new record player appears to be a direct drive. It also looks to have on-board speed control and sports a VPI armbase and arm.

The motor being used is “the bigger brother of the HW-40” according to Koh. The outboard power supply is designed by Genesis Advanced Technologies.

We are looking forward to being able to share more details about this new turntable when we get them.
