Fiona Joy - 600 Years in a Moment

Fiona Joy, few in Australia have heard the name, but with numerous awards from around the world it just might be her time to shine downunder.

Fiona Joy“One of the brightest lights in the contemporary instrumental genre, Fiona Joy Hawkins is poised to move into stardom.” Will Ackerman, Founder of Windham Hill Records.

StereoNET has followed the journey of Fiona Joy Hawkins (now Fiona Joy), over the last few years since the release of her last SACD, Blue Dream - we even gave away some copies to lucky StereoNET readers.

Winner of the ZMR internationally voted radio awards for Best Instrumental Piano Album, Fiona Joy was also the 2013 Runner up for Best Instrumental Song in the International Acoustic Music Awards and was also named Best New Age Artist for 2013 by All Stars Radio. After touring extensively in the US and Australia, Fiona earned a nomination along with Pete Seeger for Best LIVE Performance album in the Independent Music Awards.

With over 50 awards around the world, Fiona has worked with T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates), Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits), Jeff Haynes (Pat Metheny), Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort), Heather Rankin, Charlie Bisharat (Shadowfax) and  Rebecca Daniel (ACO) plus many others.

Her most recent album 600 Years in a Moment was recorded on a hand-made Australian piano (Stuart and Sons) with ancient instruments around the world.  The album has the distinctly Celtic Flavour of her ancestors while combining sounds from other cultures.  Produced by Will Ackerman, Corin Nelsen and Hawkins herself, 600 Years in a Moment was also remixed into SACD multichannel surround sound 5.1 as well as on vinyl (double gatefold).

Not only is it great to see local artists being recognised internationally, but Fiona's committment to sound quality and the SACD and Vinyl formats being embraced should please audiophiles.

We've been playing the 600 Years in a Moment album on vinyl in the StereoNET office for a few months now - it truly is stunning and brings a sense of calm, and invokes a feeling that everything is OK in the world.

Fiona Joy has made a special offer exclusive to StereoNET readers, 20% off her SACD's and the Vinyl release of 600 Years in a Moment. To take advantage of this offer, simply visit and enter the code SNAPROMO14 at checkout.
