ELIPSON MARKS 80TH ANNIVERSARY WITH TRIO OF SPECIAL EDITIONS

Elipson, the famous French purveyor of high-fidelity, is celebrating his 80th birthday this year. To mark this auspicious occasion the brand has selected three of its most exceptional achievements to offer as special editions.

Elipson is France's oldest speaker brand, making its name in 1967 with the BS40 / 2, a set of spherical speakers.

As a seamless segway to the present, Elipson has chosen its modern-day spherical sound-slingers, the Planet L, as one of three products to be upgraded for the company's birthday.

The cool-looking 2-way bass-reflex speaker features a 165mm paper membrane woofer, 25mm fabric dome tweeter and pushes out 80W at 6 Ohms. Further details include a frequency response of 48Hz-20kHz. The 80th Anniversary edition boasts improved cables and crossover. The RRP is 849 € for a pair.

Along with the Planet L, the Prestige Facet 8B bookshelf speakers are being gifted with new and improved crossovers while being dressed in eye-catching satin black with gold highlights.

The Prestige Facet 8B is also a 2-way bass-reflex speaker but rated at 85W RMS at 6 Ohms. The drivers are a 170 mm mid/bass and 25 mm silk dome tweeter that give a 47Hz-25kHz frequency response and 91dB / 1W / lm sensitivity. Around the back are gold plated connectors for bi-wiring or bi-amplification. The 230x361x347mm (WxHxD) speakers weigh 8kg and also features improved cables and crossover. The birthday Facets have an RRP of 649 € per pair.

Elipson Alpha 100 RIAA BT 80th Anniversary turntable

Rounding up the birthday trio is the Alpha 100 RIAA BT. The turntable also benefits from the black and gold cosmetic make-over and gets an improved phono stage. The striking matt black PVC frame with gold highlights is complimented by a stamped steel platter and aluminium tonearm at the end of which is an Ortofon OM 10 cartridge. Additionally, there's the integrated RIAA pre-amplifier that has been upgraded and also Bluetooth aptX and USB for hooking up to Bluetooth-enabled speakers or your computer system. The 80th Anniversary turntable has an RRP of 549€.

The Elipson 80th Anniversary range will become available in December 2018.
