Dolby Atmos is Coming Home

Dolby Atmos is gaining traction for home cinemas with news releases from major audio-visual manufacturers announcing Atmos enabled receivers almost daily.

The coming Onkyo flagship AV Receivers, TX-NR1030 and TX-NR3030 are Dolby Atmos enabled, with rumoured up-coming firmware releases believed to activate Atmos functionality in other models from many brands.

The coming Denon AVR-X4100W and AVR-X5200W AV Receivers scheduled for overseas release in September 2014 also incorporate Dolby Atmos.

StereoNET spoke to Australian distributor for Denon and Marantz, Qualifi, who confirmed the two models will be certainly hitting Australian shores but pricing and availability is unknown at this stage.

Marantz are also releasing the Atmos equipped SR7009 and the AV7702 AV Receivers overseas late in 2014.

Denon and Marantz Atmos enabled receivers will be able to run 9-channel Dolby Atmos in either 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 configurations, with the addition of ceiling mounted speakers or add-on modules.

Denon's AVR-X5200W will have the processing capability to support a full 11-channel Dolby Atmos setup, adding the possibilty of a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos configuration, with four ceiling channels / speakers.
