Chord Company Offers Naim Burndy Cable Upgrades
Chord Company now offering Naim Burndy cable alternatives.
Chord Company has designed and built upgraded Burndy power supply interconnects (from £1,600) for Naim's high-end audio products.
Decidedly niche, the new Chord Company Burndy cables feature the same high-performance materials and unique construction techniques the Wiltshire company has become famous for, they say.
Made to order, the Chord Company Burndy cable uses the company's range-topping shielding system, comprising silver-plated copper conductors, and flagship Taylon insulation. All of that is wrapped in an acoustic braid, plus an anti-EMF braid and then protected by a black nylon outer jacket.
A mixture of history (Chord Company designed and built audio cables for Naim when it first formed back in 1985), and using a Burndy-equipped Naim Audio NAP 300 amplifier in its listening room, brought this project to life. Apparently, it was discovered that Chord Company's proprietary shielding upgrades offered the most significant improvements to the cable.
Doug Maxwell, Chord Company's Sales Director, told StereoNET:
We are delighted to be able to offer Naim users a clear upgrade path for their Burndy-equipped devices. The project has been both a fascinating and personal one for us, as we use a Burndy-equipped Naim NAP 300 in our listening room.
We developed several prototypes and found getting individual improvements straightforward, however, we wanted the Burndy cables to transform our system. That's why we chose to use our best materials and design techniques to create something that outperforms across all genres.
The Chord Company Burndy cables are available in custom lengths and in the following configurations:
Single cable variants
- 555 (no.2) 7-pin
- 555 (no.1) 10-pin
- XPS 11-pin
CDS power Burndy 13-pin
- NAC 252 15-pin
- NAC 52 16-pin
- SNAXO/S-Line 17-pin
- 552 19-pin
Cable pair variants
- NAP 300 7-pin
- NAP 500 9-pin
Depending on the Naim equipment being used, there can be between seven to nineteen internal cables, so prices are, therefore, dependent on the number of wires used and the related build time.
Chord Company's Burndy cables are available now priced from £1,600.
