Chord Company Epic DIN Analogue Interconnect

Chord Company has added a DIN-terminated interconnect to its Epic range of cables.

A first for the Chord Company's Epic range, the Epic DIN offers a performance upgrade over the Shawline range DIN (from £225) but is a more affordable option to the Signature Tuned ARAY Analogue DIN (from £800).

The hand-built Epic DIN still gets the Chord Company's Tuned ARAY geometry but has a totally different construction to any of the other Epic analogue interconnects. Here you get wide-bandwidth silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors as well as multi-tiered foil shielding systems for all conductor pairs. According to the British cable company, the technique reduces interaction between all the different signals that DIN cables need to carry. More specifically, StereoNET was told that the special low-noise wide-bandwidth shielding ensures that maximum benefit is obtained from Naim Audio's latest DR amps and upgrades. Naturally, DIN-connected devices, including those from Quad, A&R, Leak and B&O also should benefit.

The Wiltshire-based company adds that the Epic DIN also features composite layered PE insulation for the conductors, foiled high-frequency shielding for both signal and ground, with an overall foil shield bringing additional high-frequency signal protection. Finally, there's split conductor geometry for impedance-matching.

Price and availability

Epic DIN is available now with all common connector combinations including DIN-DIN; DIN to RCA; RCA to DIN and DIN to XLR priced from £500 (1m). Custom lengths are available to order.

Demonstration cables are available at most Chord Company retailers: chord.co.uk/dealers/
