BREAKING NEWS - MITCHELL & JOHNSON CEASES OPERATIONS
Following unprecedented consumer confidence challenges pre-Brexit, Mitchell & Johnson is to close.
Bad news just in. We have just had confirmation that Mitchell & Johnson is wrapping things up with immediate effect.
We heard rumours a few weeks ago but hoped that it wouldn't come to this.
Mitchell & Johnson were able to produce great pieces of hi-fi equipment that were well made, sounded great and retailed at real-world prices. This latest news is certainly going to be felt across the industry.
Mitchell & Johnson put significant investment in transitioning from Far Eastern to British manufacturing. Unfortunately, this coincided with an unprecedented decline in consumer confidence and spending, due to ongoing Brexit uncertainty.
We at StereoNET have enjoyed listening to and spreading the word of Mitchell & Johnson since its launch in 2012.
The team should be incredibly proud of what they were able to offer fellow music aficionados. Furthermore, the commitment they showed to British designed and engineered products since 2018.
The press release states:
Tragically, we have been unable to reach sufficient global distribution fast enough to recoup our considerable investment in UK production and sustain our overheads.
We wish everyone involved the best of luck on their next adventure.
A sad day for British hi-fi, but also a sad day for fans of hi-fi.
