BenQ Unleashes World First THX Certified DLP 4K Home Cinema Projector

At an exclusive BenQ press event held last night in Melbourne, StereoNET was invited along to attend the premiere of their W11000 4K DLP projector that is the first to achieve the prestigious THX display certification.
The BenQ W11000 meets CEA's strict requirements for true 4K UHD with 8.3 megapixel resolution, which ensures home users can replicate the commercial cinema experience.
The W11000 projector represents a new benchmark for the BenQ company who have not offered such a high-level product for nearly a decade, and in particular within the domestic market.
Producing 3840x2160 distinct pixels, their I-chip DLP technology ensures colour accuracy and image integrity.
BenQ's highly optimised 4K optical system employs 16 high-resolution elements, a true zoom system, and special low-dispersion lens coatings to preserve spectacular visual quality for an authentic digital cinema experience.
BenQ explained that over 18 months developments and 200 THX laboratory tests covering over 500 data points took place to ensure strict Rec.709 colour accuracy, precise gamma, ideal colour temperature, enhanced uniformity and super high native contrast ratio requirements.
The W11000 has been calibrated by THX engineers for the best possible out of the box picture quality, however it is ISFccc calibration ready allowing in-home custom calibration.
It also supports 2.35:1 anamorphic aspect ratio, as demonstrated at the launch event.
The streamlined style with front facing fan and exhaust design allows for installation within a cavity and will allow the W11000 more installation options in the home. It also features 2D H/V lens shift and 1.5X zoom for precise installation.
What we witnessed at the launch last night was most impressive, a view shared by all attendees. Dark blacks, sharp colours and amazing detail. If you've considered upgrading to 4K for the ultimate in home cinema experiences, the W11000 should be high on your list when it becomes available this year.
BenQ W11000 4K UHD DLP Projector will be available from mid-November for $7999 RRP.
