Bang & Olufsen’s Iconic Beogram 4000c Turntable Returns

Last month we brought news that Bang & Olufsen was bringing back its classic 4000 turntable. Today, the Danish brand has unveiled the Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition.

Bang & Olufsen's 4000c Recreated Limited Edition turntable starts life as one of the original 95 Beogram 4000 series decks that the company brought back home to Struer, Denmark – the same facility where they were first created nearly five decades ago.

The turntables have since been disassembled and thoroughly inspected by a team of skilled engineers. Every component is then painstakingly cleaned, new parts are added where needed – from the smallest ball bearings all the way up to the drive belt. Once this process is complete, each Beogram is individually tested then fine-tuned to meet Bang & Olufsen's exacting specifications, says the brand.

Mads Kogsgaard Hansen who leads the initiative at Bang & Olufsen, told StereoNET:

The Classics initiative was born out of Bang & Olufsen's commitment to longevity, which ensures relevance for our customers many years after buying our products. In a world of consumer electronics, most products are regarded as disposable commodities. At Bang & Olufsen, our products are built to stand the test of time. That is what differentiates us as a brand, what the Beogram 4000c so beautifully embodies and what we want to build on in the future.

The Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition builds on the look and feel of the original turntable. For instance, the aluminium has been polished and anodised in a warmer champagne tone, giving the surface a subtle glow. There is also the addition of a hand-crafted solid oak frame and a new dust lid.

Thankfully, Bang & Olufsen had the foresight in the 70s to leave space inside the 4000's chassis for updates and upgrades. So, now the new 4000c features an RIAA phono pre-amplifier, allowing the turntable to be connected to active speakers using a phono or 3.5mm line-level connection.

Naturally, the 4000c Recreated Limited Edition retains the excellent automated tangential tonearm of the Beogram 4000. We are assuming that the cartridge also remains the same design. The turntables come with a five-year warranty and arrives in an oak presentation box.
