AVID HIFI GOES DARK WITH ACUTUS LIMITED EDITION TURNTABLE

The new Acutus DARK Limited Edition is the latest turntable design from Cambridgeshire-based AVID HiFi. First seen at Munich’s High End Show earlier this year, this short-run version of just 100 units is available in a matte black finish.

The Acutus DARK (£10,000) shares almost all the design aspects with the world famous Acutus SP, with just a few subtle differences. What's not so subtle though, is the fact that the DARK Limited Edition is actually 26% cheaper than its Acutus SP counterpart! Now that's a good deal.

Aside from the obvious matte black finish, the AVID Acutus Dark turntable still carries the same 10KG fully metal platter driven by twin drive belts. These are propelled by AVID's legendary hand built 140nm motor and powered by their 80VA calibrated, DSP controlled, variable speed PSU.

The fully adjustable three-point suspension mechanism is employed to further isolate the Acutus Dark Limited Edition from all outside interference while allowing fine-tuning for the setup.

Finally, there’s AVID’s single point thrust bearing, designed to direct bad vibrations and energy away from the playing surface and into the sub-chassis.

Individually numbered, just one hundred of the DARK Limited Edition turntables will be made available. Additionally, AVID is producing a further twenty of its Reference (£18,500) and only ten Reference Mono (£30,000) Limited Edition amplifiers.
