ARTISON BACKPACK THE 5.1 AV AMPLIFIER WITH GAME CONSOLE LOOKS

Do you still expect your AV amplifier to be the size of the average London flat? Well, Artison will change your mind with the Backpack surround sound processor/amplifier.

Looking more like a set-top box or the latest gaming machine, the Artison Backpack is ready to slip amongst your kit and discreetly power your home cinema.

Artison Backpack

Claiming bragging rights to being the smallest 5.1 AV amp, the Backpack features multiple digital and analogue inputs for maximum flexibility. Its diminutive dimensions allow for stealthy positioning on the back of any display for those who prefer to avoid the hi-fi showroom aesthetic at home.

Despite only being an inch tall and less than 12-inches wide and deep, its anodised aluminium chassis packs five Class D amplifiers, three of which offer 75 watts per channel to the right, left and centre speakers, with the last two each delivering 30 watts to the rear surround channels.

Additionally, the Backpack sports integrated Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby ProLogic II/IIx decoding, and internal 2.4/5.8 GHz antennas for seamless access to Wi-Fi and BT devices.

The Backpack is genuinely flexible, accepting a wide variety of sources thanks to its extensive array of inputs: HDMI (3), Bluetooth 4.0, Toslink (1), 3.5mm stereo Minijack (1), and RJ45 (1). The HDMI output (ARC/CED/3D/4K) pass-through makes the Backpack simple to integrate into a single-room system and offers up to 50 channels of amplification in 7 RU.

As well as being able to be attached to the back of a flat-panel display (hence its name), it can be mounted both on and in-wall, rack-mounted, or placed on a screen, where it’s beautifully designed form will grace any room. We think it's too slick to hide away.

The Artison Backpack is available now, priced at £1,195.
